About Bluebird Day Kids

Hilary with her three children at Stonington Town Docks

I’m Hilary, the owner of Bluebird Day. A few years ago I decided to open my own children’s boutique in my hometown of Stonington, CT. My first two children were born in Manhattan and I had so many options for choosing unique clothing, toys and gifts for my kids down every block. Once I moved out to Connecticut I found myself constantly searching the internet for new brands and styles, and waiting expectantly for the box to arrive. I missed being able to pick things out in person for both my own kids and as gifts for friends. Once my children were all in school, I found the absolute perfect space to launch my own shop for all those moms in town who were tired of the constant cycle of ordering and returning online. The irony is that many of my “summer” customers asked me to open an online store so they could continue to shop when they return home at the end of the season. And so bluebirddaykids.com was born.

My customers trust that I always choose quality brands with styles ranging from classic to fashion forward. I love to find mom-made or women owned brands. Whenever possible I bring in items made in the USA. Any bath or beauty products we stock are made in the USA or Europe and never have any nasties. And organic is always an option that can be found in the shop. A local newspaper categorized our style as upscale play wear, and I’m inclined to agree with them. You can find styles that work well for school or playdates, but we also have the perfect dress or button down for dinners on the town or weekends with Grandma.
